Digitalisierung und Innovation in Kanzleien – Sandra Thiel and I wrote about our notorious Innovation & Best Delivery Hub and our fantastic multidisciplinary teams working in interdisciplinary ways.
After the Bucerius Innovation Days on Monday and Tuesday, I met my CIO Paul Greenwood for real in Frankfurt on Wednesday, then on Thursday at the Hub/IT event with Worldcafés (mine was on the topic of cloud computing and platform economy), we have just sent my 20+ years colleague and former team member Bärbel off into her well-deserved retirement (the social part is about to begin).
I am really done.
We – my Innovation Partner Sandra Thiel, my Regional Technology Director Christiane Müller-Haye and Daniel Wilkus from the ITSC – have been at the Bucerius Innovation Day in Hamburg.
All around Platform Economics – is it more of a chance or risk for the legal industry?
Sandra and I introduced the legal industry part with the general thought process of law firms around platform economics, our expectations and experiences.
Andrew Klein from Reynen Court touched on all the beauty of the platform, how it can drive business value and embrace technology within the legal community. Dierk Schindler from Bosch took us through the ride of DIKE, part of the Common Legal Plattform which will hopefully materialise with funding from the GAIA/X budgets.
Marcus Trapp and Claudia Nass from Fraunhofer IESE entertained us with their amazing presentation about chances and challenges of digital ecosystems and platform economy.
Do you want to follow Christiane Müller-Haye and me on The Road Ahead? We have written an article for GoingDigital of DeutscherAnwaltSpiegel about the contemporary challenges of electronic data analysis – and, folks, it remains challenging. Times have changed since the Enron case…we are no longer just dealing with ludicrous 500,000 American English emails and their attachments.

What a week!
On Monday I was delighted to attend the first 2G* in-person meeting in our notorious Innovation & Best Delivery Hub with non-Clifford Chance people. To be on the safe side we did tests on top.
On Tuesday I enjoyed my first business ride on a train since March 2020, followed by a nice 2G* networking dinner, including an overnight stay in a hotel.

Hoch oben über den Dächern von Köln in der herrlichen Location Osman 30 zeigten Sandra Thiel, Katrin Rötering und Sven Richert die Vorzüge eines multidisziplinär aufgestellten und agierenden Innovation/Best Delivery/Legal Operations Teams mit Präsenz on-premise in unserem Frankfurter Büro.
Today we had our first Continental European IT Summit since ages. It was the first really big hybrid event, with close to 50 participants meeting in their respective offices, from their homes or on the road. All at a distance and no huddling.
You already know that I know nothing about football. I have to quote the next best English ex-kicker to be able to say something about it. But I do know something about Tech. And as a German, of course, I also know about Data Protection. The Corona-Warn-App (which we proudly helped with) is now a year old and, in my eyes, a huge success!
