It has never felt as dark as it does this year. This is not only a sensed, „alternative“ fact. Looking out from 24th floor of one shabby skyscraper at other shining skyscrapers is nowhere near as dark as to when looking out on ground level at your desk at home. What I have mainly done this winter.

I am really not as interculturally knowledgeable as I would like to be. I know far too little about Hanukkah, Diwali and Christmas. But I do know that they are celebrations of friendship, family, joy, love and light in the dark season.
And there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The days are getting longer (as always after 21st December), we can be close to people without meeting them (thank you, FaceTime), the first people have been vaccinated (thank you, science), we even have a Brexit deal (oh dear)!
