Working from home (14)

Week #17: It is still a real challenge, but compared to what is going on in other countries (UK, USA) or has been going on at other times (select a war of choice), it is a walk in the drizzle.

Working in the office is not the same, when so many people are still not there at the same time. But it’s a welcome escape from home. There is a fear that working from home has worked so well for many of us mouse pushers that after Covid-19 there will be less workplaces in the offices. I am used to working in global virtual teams. But it wouldn’t be the same if I always had to work from a distance.

I would love to see again some of my friends with risks, but it’s been so long now that it can wait until we don’t (have to) expose ourselves to greater danger.

These first two weeks of school holidays last year we were in a holiday house in the Provence in France. I really miss it, but can also wait until next year and the years to come.

The children have nothing more to do now, we let them have holidays in peace. But that puts them in an even worse mood. I’m very glad that there’s the breathing reflex. Otherwise two would have died already, lazy as they are.

The coronavirus…lingers in the air indoors, infecting those nearby. If airborne transmission is a significant factor in the pandemic, especially in crowded spaces with poor ventilation, the consequences for containment will be significant. Masks may be needed indoors, even in socially-distant settings.“

Meanwhile, retailers in Germany would like to abolish the obligation to wear masks. A very silly idea.

Wear masks. It fucking sucks but it’s not complicated. You just have to follow the advice of experts who know what the fuck they’re talking about.
