Week #8: Because of the Corona virus pandemic, I survived the eighth week of working from home. That week felt a little more „business as usual“ for the first time. The number of online meetings and their duration decreased, and today’s public holiday in the UK also helped me get some real work done.
In Germany, the so-called lock-down (which was more of a restriction of the exit and of the freedom of assembly) was virtually lifted again on Wednesday. It will be gradually implemented in a few steps. Due to the federal structure, the rules are slightly different in every state (which makes a lot of sense, because the situation varies through the country). In the last eight weeks we have learned some new vocabulary, such as confirmed cases and estimated number of unreported cases, doubling time, herd immunity and infestation, excess mortality and reproduction rate. The latest hot shit is „confirmed new infections per 100,000 inhabitants“. From 50 onward, regional restrictions are to be introduced. This too makes sense, but how long it will take a district to take which action if the threshold is exceeded.
I hope that we do not carelessly lose our good starting position. We are still at the beginning of the pandemic.
